Friends of Maiwut works in Maiwut County, Upper Nile State, South Sudan, and the surrounding border areas — alongside one of the world's youngest nations and one of its most resilient communities.
Our work is shaped by three layers of context: the wider story of South Sudan, the lived reality of Maiwut, and the practical platform from which we operate. Each shapes what we do, how we do it, and the people we walk alongside.
Maiwut is a place of deep resilience, strong faith and great need. Families live with the lasting effects of conflict and displacement, with limited services and fragile livelihoods. Yet the community is rich in courage, hospitality and hope.
Friends of Maiwut works with local leaders to address practical needs and support long-term rebuilding and community renewal. The partnership is shaped not by what we bring from outside, but by what the people of Maiwut already carry — and what they ask us to walk with them in building.
